NOCHE Entrepreneurial Internship Program

Program Description
The Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE) is pleased to offer entrepreneurial companies and small businesses the opportunity to hire pre-screened interns from the region's 26 colleges and universities. The program goals and objectives are to support regional economic development among entrepreneurial companies while increasing career options in entrepreneurship for students.
Why Hire an Intern?
An intern offers small businesses additional power to increase productivity. Many small business owners may not have the time or resources to connect with talented students from area colleges and universities. This program, administered by NOCHE, seeks to identify, source, and match small businesses with potential interns. What can an intern do for your business? The following are examples of potential projects:
- Write business plans
- Conduct business research
- Create marketing plans
- Design web sites
- Determine cost-benefit analysis
- Design publications and marketing communications
- Assist with business development
Student Eligibility Requirements
Students enrolled in any of Northeast Ohio's colleges and universities are eligible for fall, spring or summer internships, prior interest in entrepreneurship is not required. All academic majors are welcome.

Additional Program Procedures
Interns must be hired to work on structured projects and tasks that will provide them with an entrepreneurial experience within your organization. In order to qualify, employers must submit job descriptions that specify how they plan to create an internship that will provide such an experience for students. Once you have been approved to participate, an online form will be provided for submitting postions to this program.
NOCHE program managers will screen students and submit appropriate matches directly to the employer. For each internship submitted, employers will select their final candidate, make the offer, and determine employment wages for the intern. The internship start date will be determined by the student and employer upon hire. Employers are REQUIRED to report when interns are hired. An online form is provided to partcipants for reporting this information.
